Vpod chose Phoenix Audio Technologies’ audio solution to enhance the audio quality in its Vgreet kiosks in order to offer the best experience to its users. Vgreet uses video conferencing technology, coupled with the latest touchscreen and multimedia technology to provide face-to-face interactive opportunities.
The Challenge
Vpod’s Vgreet kiosks are often deployed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Although Vgreet was robust in many of its features, the actuation of full-duplex audio communication in noisy circumstances became difficult. With bad acoustics, the audio stream was unintelligible at times. Vpod needed a noise cancelling system that could do three things:
- It needed to be embedded within the Vgreet kiosk.
- It had to have the ability to pick up the voice of the customer in many environments.
- It had to work with a highly-compressed Vidyo audio codec.
An important aspect of the Vgreet solution is the rich experience for customers when engaging with the solution. Along with the touch screen, user friendly interface, and professional speakers, the quality pick and transfer of audio was crucial to an immersive video conferencing experience.
The Fix
Phoenix’s MT107 cancelling box with a dedicated DSP solution was neutral to the platform and codec, which made integration simple. After becoming familiar with the situation, Phoenix offered two variations of the MT107 solution to the company to provide an even better quality of audio communication. First, the MT107E-HD solution (with a single microphone input) was used in conjunction with the previous microphones already deployed with the Vgreet solution. Then, to further improve the Vgreet, the MT107-KSK solution (with 4 microphones) was integrated into future designs. Both products propecia improved the audio communication and voice intelligibility. They enabled the client to communicate fluidly and naturally by providing a full audio solution that dramatically reduced noise and echo. The beamforming algorithms enable the users to confidently interact with the Vgreet, knowing that their voice is being picked up clearly by the far-end.
The Value
The MT107 echo and noise cancelling products have transformed the audio quality within Vpod’s solutions. It is a small, cost-effective package that has made a large impact. The MT107 has provided Vpod with high quality audio at a fraction of the costs to most traditional DSP solutions. This makes it possible for Vpod to deliver solutions that enable video conferencing in any type of environment, thereby serving a wider range of various users.
