Disable Mac OSX Volume Synchronization
Symptom:
A Phoenix Audio Technology product is connected to a Mac or Apple product. When the volume up/down buttons are pressed on the Phoenix product (such as the spider) the volume on the Mac or Apple product pegs out by continuous up/down volume relay.
In usual situations the Phoenix Audio Technology product firmware works seamlessly to allow volume control synchronization of the product and the computer. Meaning, when the volume up/down button is pressed on the Phoenix Audio Technology product, the volume levels of the computer change accordingly. However, in the case of Apple products, the signal of volume up/down relayed from the Phoenix product loops into a continuous volume up/down signal due to firmware miscommunication.
Solution:
Although no firmware solution exists at the moment. A simplified solution is to disable the internal Audio Sync of your Phoenix Audio Product
Step 1:
Connect your Phoenix Audio device to a PC and download the "Disable_Volume_Sync" attachment.
Step 2:
Extract the files, make sure they remain within the same directory and execute the application called “PhoenixCRF”
Step 3:
Under Command File select the Folder icon, browse and select “Volume_sync.ppc”.
Step 4:
Execute the Command
Step 5:
You may now connect your Phoenix Audio device to an Apple computer or Device (MAC OSX).
Note: If you need to undo these settings please follow the same instructions but use the "Enable_Volume_Sync" attachment instead.
